Are You Walking?
June 17, 2008 — Today, United Way of New York City announced a Day of Action and is calling on New Yorkers to join together to raise awareness about the critical need to improve Education, Income and Health across the five boroughs. The event takes place on Saturday, September 20, 2008.
The Day of Action begins with an opening ceremony in City Hall Park in downtown Manhattan where residents, corporate groups, nonprofit leaders, and public officials will join United Way in a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. The walk ends at the LIVE UNITED Volunteer Festival in Cadman Plaza Park in downtown Brooklyn.
Participants are not required to raise money to walk. Voluntary donations and sponsorships are welcomed. Registration is required. Join the effort!
