WALK
Saturday, September 20, 2008
Opening Ceremony: 9:30 a.m. Walk: 10:00 a.m.
Festival: 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
The LIVE UNITED Brooklyn Bridge Walk and Volunteer Festival is just one way that United Way of New York City takes big steps to better connect our whole community.
Why Walk?
- 1 in 4 students drop out of high school each year in our City
- An estimated 1.54 million New Yorkers live in poverty and struggle to obtain basic needs like housing and food
- Thousands of New Yorkers suffer from diabetes, heart and other serious health issues directly related to poor nutrition
Together, we can turn these statistics around.
Help raise awareness about the three biggest challenges facing our City: Education, Income and Health.
Join us for the walk and for the LIVE UNITED Volunteer Festival in Cadman Plaza Park to explore how, together, we can bridge the gaps that exist in our city.
This is not a traditional “walk-a-thon” – no fundraising is required. However, if you, your company or your friends and family would like to make a donation, all contributions will support United Way’s work in Education, Income and Health right here in New York City.
