The Young Leaders Council brings the passion and philanthropic power of young professionals together to transform New York City. The YLC provides robust opportunities to connect community-driven 20- and 30-somethings who’re eager to lead their peers, fundraise and advocate on behalf of low-income New Yorkers.

YLC Members enjoy exclusive benefits depending on membership level. Benefits include but aren’t limited to:

  • Fun social opportunities with savvy young philanthropists
  • Invitations to exclusive events that feature prominent local leaders
  • On-the-ground volunteerism that promotes long-term community change
  • Illuminating panel discussions and briefings on contemporary social issues

Access to select professional development and social events and all volunteer opportunities. Preferred members are also eligible to apply for a position on one of four YLC Subcommittee’s including Brand + Marketing, Events + Fundraising, Community Engagement and Membership.

Includes complimentary tickets to all YLC events, joint membership with our Women’s Leadership Council (WLC), and access to all professional development and volunteer opportunities. Executive members are eligible to apply for a position on the YLC Executive Committee.

For you, who reveled in the magic of January's Storybook Evening (or you, who sadly experienced the FOMO), it's time to clear your calendar. Our story continues June 2 at Summer Soiree. From a panoramic rooftop, we'll raise support for UWNYC's fight for literacy—the fight that no matter kids’ economic backgrounds everyone deserves a shot at a quality education and the possibility of reaching their fullest potential. 


Inspire Youth at East Bronx Academy (Sign Up by April 14)

Don’t miss your chance to inspire NYC youth at East Bronx Academy Middle School's Career Readiness and Exploration Event. As a panelist or career ambassador, you'd talk passionately about your line of work and the path you took to get there, as well as field students’ questions about their aspirations. VOLUNTEER: Prepare Meals for New Yorkers in Need
March 26  (1:30–4:30 PM) | God's Love We Deliver (166 6th Ave, New York, NY 10013)

YLCers suited up to prep and pack meals at God's Love We Deliver, a UWNYC Emergency Food and Shelter program partner. God's Love We Deliver cooks and delivers thousands of nutritious, high-quality meals daily across NYC for individuals who are too sick to shop or cook for themselves.


Cycle for IMPACT!
Saturday, April 1 (2:00 PM) | SoulCycle (8 W 19th St, New York, NY 10011)

YLCers put pedal to the metal to help NYC families in need by teaming up with SoulCycle and Express for an exclusive charity ride. The ride benefitted UWNYC's programs, like ReadNYC.



YLC Membership Happy Hour at Pazza Notte

YLC members and NYC young professionals kicked back at Pazza Notte. 2-for-1 Martini Drink specials throughout the night.


Build Healthy Snack Packs with the YLC (***AT CAPACITY***)
February 22 (6:00–7:00 PM) | United Way of New York City (205 E. 42nd Street, New York, NY)

Eighteen YLC volunteers from 11 different companies prepared 480 healthy snack packs for P.S. 43, a ReadNYC school in the Mott Haven community of the South Bronx. SEE PHOTOS

Serve a Warm Meal at the Bowery Mission
October 30 (9:30 AM–2:30 PM) | The Bowery Mission (227 Bowery, New York, NY)

YLCers rolled up their sleeves and threw on an apron to prep and serve lunch to homeless and low-income New Yorkers visiting the Mission’s soup kitchen.


Wine Down with the YLC
November 5 (9:30 AM–6:30 PM) | North Fork, Long Island (Various Vineyards)

YLCers relaxed while sipping crisp autumn air, Pinot, Cabernet, and Sauvignon, leaving their cares in the boroughs and enjoying an exclusive North Fork wine-tasting tour.
