As Associate Vice President of Income, Carmine Rivetti oversees all United Way of New York City's Income-related initiatives, which include financial management, food stamps outreach, hunger prevention, and the Emergency Food and Shelter Program. In addition, he coordinates the development of policy recommendations with government partners to further the advocacy work of the organization.
Prior to joining UWNYC in 2009, Carmine served for two years as the Assistant Commissioner for Government and Community Relations at the Department of Homeless Services, where he coordinated the development and implementation of the agency's city, state and federal legislative agenda. He also played a key role in the development of community advisory boards to support operations of city homeless shelter facilities and to assist with the successful resolution of community issues throughout the five boroughs.
Carmine has also served as Deputy Director of Intergovernmental Relations for the New York City Housing Authority. In this capacity, he served as the agency's primary liaison to the New York City Council. He has also served as the Regional Advocacy Director for the American Cancer Society of New York City, where he coordinated with many government and community partners on the development of grassroots campaign to ban smoking in all New York City workplaces.
Carmine holds a master's in social work from Columbia University and a BA from Drew University.
