Community Grants

Nonprofits represent roughly 10% of national employment and 15.6% employment in New York.

The application deadline of 1/31/12 has now passed. Applications are no longer being accepted. Thank you for your interest!

United Way of New York City's Community Grants reflect our ongoing commitment to strengthen the organizational capacity of community-based nonprofits serving the city's most vulnerable populations.

Our 2011-2012 Community Grants will offer two types of one-time grants that will be awarded through a competitive Request for Proposals process to a limited number of health and human services organizations serving New York City residents:

  • Collaboration Grants will support teams of two or more community-based organizations that seek to create or expand innovative partnerships in order to achieve measurable outcomes.
  • Community Leaders Impact Grants will enable emerging nonprofit leaders to obtain professional development training to better address critical issues impacting their organizations.
