Jennifer Jones Austin joined the United Way of New York City in 2008 as Senior Vice President of Community Investment.

Prior to joining UWNYC, Jennifer served as New York City's first Family Services Coordinator, a position to which she was appointed by Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg after she had served four years as Deputy Commissioner in the City's Administration for Children's Services. As Family Services Coordinator, she was responsible for leading multiple interagency initiatives for children and families. She also played a lead coordination role in supporting the work of the Mayor's Commission for Economic Opportunity.

Jennifer has also served as Civil Rights Deputy Bureau Chief for Policy, Legislation and Public Outreach for then–Attorney General Eliot Spitzer, and as the Vice President of Development for LearnNow/Edison Schools Inc.

Jennifer serves as Chair of the City of New York's Procurement Policy Board and sits on the boards of Citizens' Committee for Children, the National Marrow Donor Program, and the Icla da Silva Foundation. She holds a BA from Rutgers University, a JD from Fordham University Law School, and an Master of Science in Management and Policy from New York University.
