NEW YORK, NY – United Way of New York City (UWNYC) is proud to announce the appointment of Naomi Post of Atlantic Philanthropies as Senior Fellow of Community Schools, a year-long senior fellowship designed to support UWNYC’s efforts to significantly expand community schools throughout the City’s school district.

Ms. Post will work to develop UWNYC’s relationships to promote a results-based, collective impact model of community schools. She will be a key partner in building strong partnerships to ensure every child in New York has access to community resources and a high quality education. She will supervise the initial implementation of UWNYC’s community schools strategy and work with partner organizations to promote an education experience that meets the whole needs of each child, providing necessary services to support learning and development, from mental health services to academic enrichment and mentoring.

“United Way of New York City has a unique ability to connect organizations and stakeholders in order to build momentum for change,” said Ms. Post. “I am honored to add my experiences as an advocate for community schools and a partnership builder in the philanthropy space to the organization’s efforts to create opportunity and equality for all children.”

Prior to joining UWNYC, Ms. Post was the Head of Community Based Programmes at the Atlantic Philanthropies, a limited-life foundation dedicated to bringing about lasting changes in the lives of disadvantaged and vulnerable people. During her tenure at Atlantic, she managed a portfolio of over $100M in grants supporting community schools and school-based health centers in four diverse jurisdictions. She also developed and managed strategic investments to support a high school reform effort which created health career pathways for students with the objectives of increasing high school graduation and college enrollment and expanding and diversifying the local healthcare workforce. Ms. Post’s position with UWNYC will be entirely funded through the generous support of Atlantic Philanthropies.

“We are excited to welcome Naomi Post to the United Way of New York City team,” said Sheena Wright, President and CEO of UWNYC. “Ms. Post brings an incredible depth and breadth of experience to our organization. She has been a leader in government and community-based organizations, and her years of work building strong networks to drive change through advocacy and community organizing will be invaluable to our mission.”

Ms. Post presents with nearly 30 years executive level experience in the public, non-profit, and philanthropic sectors. Before joining Atlantic, she operated a consulting business providing project management and strategic planning services to nonprofit agencies and several national and local foundations. Ms. Post holds a Bachelor of Arts from SUNY Binghamton and a Juris Doctorate from Cornell University Law School.
