Senator Kirsten Gillibrand Joins UWNYC CEO, Sheena Wright, for First-Ever Impact Series Event

NEW YORK, NY – On Monday, October 26, United States Senator for New York Kirsten Gillibrand sat down with United Way of New York City CEO, Sheena Wright, for a dynamic conversation as part of United Way of New York City’s new Impact Series, an ongoing thought leadership series highlighting key individuals and influential leaders in New York. The fireside chat was hosted at the New York City office of international law firm Sidley Austin, LLP.

Topics discussed in the conversation included the Senator’s perspective on challenges facing New York families and communities, the role of women leaders in New York government, and key issues for the upcoming presidential election and how they will resonate with and affect constituents in New York. The Senator also touched on her top legislative priorities, including child nutrition, family leave, women’s rights, and gun trafficking. Over 100 professionals from the fields of finance, nonprofit, business, and government were in attendance for the invitation-only event.

“Sheena and I had a great dialogue on a range of issues that continue to affect many New Yorkers,” said Senator Gillibrand. “When so many men and women in our state still don’t have access to paid family leave and can’t afford healthy meals for their children, it is more important than ever that we continue to work together to find solutions to these problems. I’m grateful that the United Way of New York City, lead by Sheena Wright, held this important discussion and look forward to continuing to work together as we help New Yorkers face these challenges.”

“We are so grateful to feature an inspired, public leader like Senator Gillibrand as we launch our new Impact Series.” said Sheena Wright, President and CEO, United Way of New York City. “New York is so very fortunate to have an advocate like Senator Gillibrand in Washington. One that is driving result-focused impact strategies while keeping our women and families at the heart of her policy agenda.”
