HOMETOWN HEROES

DARIUS SLAYTON

DARIUS SLAYTON

Wide Receiver, New York Giants

New York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton was drafted by the Giants in the 5th round of the 2019 NFL Draft. In 5 seasons with the Giants, Slayton has totaled 220 receptions for 3,324 yards (15.1-yard avg.) and 19 touchdowns, with a long catch of 80 yards for a touchdown. Slayton became the 4th Giant since 1970 to register a 65+ yard touchdown reception in back-to-back games, joining Odell Beckham Jr. (2015), Victor Cruz (2011) and Mario Manningham (2010). He is the only receiver in Giants history to lead the team in receiving yards in 4 of his first 5 seasons.

Slayton has consistently been a source of support and guidance for those in need in the New York and New Jersey community. During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Slayton was part of a player group that came together to inspire change through educational equity and police-community relations. It was then that Slayton was introduced to the Far Rockaway Colts, now aptly named the Far Rockaway Giants. In partnership with the New York City Police Foundation, NYPD, NYC Department of Education and New York Giants, the Far Rockaway Giants youth program provides mentorship, tutoring and the opportunity to play flag football and other sports for up to 100 boys in the city of Far Rockaway, Queens. Slayton has used his platform to share the importance of police-community relations, spent countless hours creating relationships with the boys and officers, and has contributed thousands of dollars to provide household needs, clothing, food, gifts and events for the boys and their families. The program has expanded into the city of Harlem with the Harlem Giants and will be starting in the Bronx this upcoming school year.

In addition to his support of the Far Rockaway and Harlem Giants programs, Slayton annually hosts a free youth football camp in his hometown of Atlanta and provides meals and household items to families during the holidays through his Left Hand, Right Hand Foundation.
